Art Files: Preparation Guidelines
These guidelines are for art you wish to supply.
We include extensive art services at no additional charge for most of our products. Except for logos, in most cases you do not need to supply art.
Text
Text art can be prepared in a wide variety of programs including word processing programs. In most cases we prefer you convert your file to a PDF or an EPS, with fonts embedded. We also recommend you include copies of your fonts even if they are embedded.
If Your Art Includes Graphics
Mixing text and art can only be done in certain programs. We recommend a professional vector graphics program such as Adobe Illustrator. Layout programs such as Quark and InDesign can be used if the graphic art is prepared by a vector program and imported into the layout program.
Vector Vs Bitmap Art
Unless your product is being printed in 4 color process, in most cases vector art is required. Most promotional products are printed with screen processes that print solid lines and text very well, but pictures print grainy. Any bitmap graphic is the same as a picture, in that it is made of dots rather than solid lines. If your art is in the form of a jpg or tiff, then it is a bitmap graphic! If your art is in a bitmap format, please consult with us. We can evaluate your art and advise you on solutions if it is un-usable in its present format.
Free Art Evaluation
We invite you to send us a copy of your art file for a free evaluation.
